Another solid story from Connelly。 Predictable, mostly, but an interesting set of murder cases。 Plus a preview of what’s to come in the next book of this series。

A good, well-paced, satisfying read。

Another excellent read。 Sad, though

Michael Connelly can surely write gripping, action paced, and intriguing thriller。 This one was excellent, a Bosch investigating cold cases and being part of a new team。It's fast paced, I was hooked since the first pages and couldn't put it down as it's a page turner。Loved the storytelling, the solid plot that kept me guessing and on the edge。The characters are well developed and I loved their being human being with their faults and not perfect。Highly recommended。Many thanks to the publisher for Michael Connelly can surely write gripping, action paced, and intriguing thriller。 This one was excellent, a Bosch investigating cold cases and being part of a new team。It's fast paced, I was hooked since the first pages and couldn't put it down as it's a page turner。Loved the storytelling, the solid plot that kept me guessing and on the edge。The characters are well developed and I loved their being human being with their faults and not perfect。Highly recommended。Many thanks to the publisher for this arc, all opinions are mine 。。。more

Not the best Bosch! Too much technical juridical talk, too little action。 Because of the large characters (letter) in the book and the spacing between the lines, the book is pretty short, even though it fils 388 pages。 Connelly is getting the most out of Harry Bosch…Not written with passion but with money in the mind… I think…

Fantastic storyline with a pace that made this hard to putdown。 As ever, Bosch's dogged determination to never letgo spurs the story on。However, the 'old man' comments within the story are areminder that Bosch can't last forever and that is beginningto upset me。 A book character, yeah, I know!!!! Because Bosch has his own agenda: a crime that has haunted him for years - the murder of a whole family, buried out in the desert - which he vowed to close。I thought the book was just so astonishingly good。 I’m now determined to continue with Connelly’s books and I have bought Kindle copies of all those that I missed。This very experienced writes a very exciting story which had me really gripped until the very dramatic conclusion。 I enjoyed reading this very much and will certainly look out for more books by him in the future。 Strongly recommended。 (Advance Reading Copy provided by Orion via netgalley in exchange for fair review)he follows some leads on the original murder 。。。more

Seventy-year-old Bosch comes out of retirement to volunteer in a reconstituted Open Unsolved Unit headed up by Renee Ballard。 As always with Connelly, the novel goes deeper than fighting and sleuthing (though there's plenty of that, and it's good), and here discusses familial ties, suicide, mortality, regret, wrong assumptions, and evil, among other things。 Subdued and contemplative, it's not the thrill-ride Bosch novels that kept me reading past 3 AM, but is, like Bosch himself at this stage in Seventy-year-old Bosch comes out of retirement to volunteer in a reconstituted Open Unsolved Unit headed up by Renee Ballard。 As always with Connelly, the novel goes deeper than fighting and sleuthing (though there's plenty of that, and it's good), and here discusses familial ties, suicide, mortality, regret, wrong assumptions, and evil, among other things。 Subdued and contemplative, it's not the thrill-ride Bosch novels that kept me reading past 3 AM, but is, like Bosch himself at this stage in the series, wise and big-hearted and always a welcome companion。 。。。more
